Position Summary • Work with the External Relations/Government Relations Manager for Tunisia, supporting the business license to operate and grow • Build and leverage the Shell brand and reputation, making a positive impact on the local society and communities where the business operates • Support in integrating non-technical risks (NTR) in support of the business (where need has been established) The role of the External Relations (ER) team within Shell Tunisia Upstream is to maintain and enhance reputation and license to operate/grow in Tunisia. [wbcr_html_snippet id="114343"] The ER team is accountable for the overall management of NTRs to ensure Shell’s brand and reputation are protected and enhanced. ER will ensure a holistic approach that includes brand/reputation management, media relations, issues and crisis management, corporate communications, social performance and investment, and stakeholder engagement. ER partners with the business to bring in the external insights and intelligence, to ensure informed decision making, and to position Shell in Tunisia strategically and properly. Shell Tunisia Upstream partners with government, industry and organizations to share expertise, technical know-how and understanding of the energy system to help encourage robust dialogue leading to effective and efficient public policy outcomes. Position dimension: Lead external and internal communications within the Shell Tunisia Upstream reporting to the ER / GR Manager. Key Accountabilities Deliver the internal and external communications to support the businesses, assets and projects in country; Support in managing Shell’s brand and reputation in country; develop and execute a Country Brand & Reputation Plan that builds, maintains and manages a network of key external stakeholder relationships that includes media, academia, multilateral organizations, NGOs and community leaders in line with the Center of Excellence (CoE) standards and policies; Ensure leverage of Shell Tunisia’s Social Investment initiative in internal communications and externally as well.; Manage Internal Communications (IC) for the country, in line with guidance from IC Centre of Excellence (CoE). Manage media relations for the country, in line with guidance from Media Centre of Excellence (CoE) and manage local disclosure process and consistency of message in Tunisia, in conjunction with Group Media, IR and Legal and according to global processes; Alternate Role as Communications lead for Shell Companies in Tunisia’s crisis & issues management, helping to ensure a suitable crisis plan is maintained and updated, crisis team is trained and exercises held to ensure crisis preparedness and provide assurance on the crisis preparedness process; Work closely with other functions, such as GR, HSSE, Social Performance, Operations, Commercial, HR etc. to identify and mitigate potential risks and issues that could potentially harm Shell's reputation; Special challenges: Support existing as well as potential new business development opportunities to help advancing business agendas and obtain license to operate while protecting and profiling Shell’s reputation Support the Country Chair in having effective internal communications – different formats – connecting various sites and offices where the company operates.. Unique Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Attribute Track record and demonstrated experience in working effectively as part of an External Relations team, covering reputation management, government and media relations, issues and crisis management, corporate communications, social performance and investment, and stakeholder engagement; • Demonstrated excellent collaboration and interpersonal skills, able to work effectively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, at all levels; • Ability to think strategically, have knowledge of business drivers/threats and translate business objectives into multi-channel strategies / plans; • Capacity to work across multiple businesses, prioritize competing demands and manage complexity; • Demonstrated personal impact through collaboration and self-accountability is key for this role; • Fluency in Arabic, English and French – written and oral. • Some travel will be required within Tunisia, with frequent visits to Sfax. Strong personal and business integrity, maturity and external credibility; Excellent interpersonal relationships, organizational sensitivity and experience of working in a matrix organisation; Excellent communicator; proven verbal and writing skills (English) with ability to distil complex issues into key messages; and desire to come up with new business targeted creative solutions in communications; Knowledge of social media and using technology for messaging; Multi-task and manage complexity, passion and ability to deliver despite significant challenges, set-backs and against short deadlines; Curiosity to learn quickly, self-starter showing high degree of personal initiative and drive | |
