Regional Producer, Tunisia
Job Purpose:
BBC Media Action is looking for an experienced, creative and dynamic producer and tape/video/digital editor to work as the Regional Producer on its Tunisian social media projects.
Location: Tunis, Tunisia
Reports to: Editorial Lead, Tunisia
Contract duration: Fixed term contract until 31 March 2018 (with possibility of extension subject to funding)

[wbcr_html_snippet id="114343"] Main responsibilities:- Work closely with young, inexperienced Tunisian film makers from across the country, many of whom are in rural areas, who are alumni of BBC Media Action production and mobile journalism training schemes.
- Help them produce, shoot and edit their own short films for social media that reflect the interests and enthusiasm of young Tunisians.
- Inspire creativity and encouraging people to do their best possible work is an important part of this role.
- S/he will be required to create high quality content from raw material of varying quality.
- S/he will ensure all content will be of interest to Tunisian youth and that the BBC’s Editorial Guidelines and values of accuracy and impartiality are embedded throughout.
- A confident and creative factual filmmaker, with experience of both originating material and editing the work of others.
- Extensive experience of making short films or documentaries from the initial idea to planning filming, self-shooting, scripting, structuring and editing own material.
- Strong editorial judgement, good storytelling and knowledge of the target audience’s needs and expectations.
- Strong experience of influencing, negotiating and communicating effectively both internally and with external agencies/partners.
- Experience of working closely with, or even mentoring, inexperienced film makers. Helping them to recognise the story and helping them tell it through the medium of short films for social media. Able to take trainees from rough cuts through to polished final pieces suitable for social media.
- Ability to create content for social media with accuracy, clarity and style appropriate to differing audiences and forms of media, including live streaming. Must be able to produce material to a high standard.
- Experience of documentary style editing: excellent knowledge of Adobe Premiere is vital; knowledge of Final Cut Pro X would be very useful.
- Able to work with the social media editor to get the best possible response to our content.
- Able to work collaboratively with other team members to make ambitious output.
- Strong planning and organising skills. Ability to manage several areas of work at one time, prioritising, delivering consistently to deadlines and reacting positively to changes and conflicting priorities.
- An in-depth knowledge of Tunisian youth and the social media they engage with, including audiences, competitors and industry trends. A good knowledge of what works on digital platforms for the target audience of young Tunisians.
- Proven experience of the latest production processes and techniques and technologies.
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of the wider media industry.
- An extensive knowledge of BBC editorial guidelines and other compliance policies. Understanding of the importance of the BBC's values in accuracy and impartiality. Thorough understanding of editorial oversight.
- Fluent English and Tunisian Arabic – both written and verbal.
- Editorial Judgement - Demonstrates balanced and objective judgement based on a thorough understanding of BBC editorial guidelines, target audience, programme and department objectives. Makes the right editorial decisions, taking account of conflicting views where necessary.
